My family has been traced back to the civil war. Julius Neddo (Nadeau, Nedo) served in the war out of Vermont. I am looking for any relatives he might have had.

David, Very excited to read your info on the message board. My husband is from Ticonderoga, NY and although we lived in Crown Point for a period of time, I never got serious about family history, mostly because of no help from the family. My husband had a great grandfather named Tuffield Nadeau. Does this name sound familiar to you? I can't get any farther on this line. This man burned downed the local church and was sent to Ogdensburg where he spent the rest of his life. My father-in-law remembers going to the funeral as a boy, so he could of died in the late nineteen thirtys.I can only find his wife and children on the census records. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou, Kathleen Nadeau

Can not shed any light on Tuffield. However My father and all of his family are from Ticonderoga, NY. My father was John Oliver his father was John Anthony and his father was Julius and Julius' mother was Carlista. That is where I loose the thread. Everyone refered to my graqndmother as Ma'mere. I have many cousins from Ticonderoga. We may be related.

Hoping some of you are still on here. I am also part of this family my mother Cecile was daughter of Norman who was son of John who was son of Julious. Ironically I now live in Bridport VT where other children of Julious went. I just looked over Julious today who died in Mineville. Cause of death skull fracture...trying to find out what happened. Between others here in VT and Ticonderoga I have seen the Nadeau line back to Canada then abroad.

Tina, It appears that my Uncle Norm and Aunt Pearl are your grandparents. Cecile and I are first cousins. My father is John Oliver Nadeau brother of your grandfather. I grew up in Schenectady NY. I understood that Julius fell from the top of a hay wagon. I get into family history every couple of years and will be happy to share what I have with you. Check the 1855 Census for Hague NY. The following info about the parents of Julius looks reasonable. Calista Scholastique Fregeau Nadeau (Frazier) Birthdate: February 10, 1809 Birthplace: Saint-Jean-Baptiste, QC, Canada Death: Died January 22, 1901 in Ticonderoga, NY, USA Immediate Family: Wife of Pierre-Celestin Silas Nadeau; Mother of Julius Nadeau I have a photo of Julius and his wife on their wedding day.
