Hi again!
I knew that man was not the right age. I thought maybe it
was a close relative.
I have a good picture of my grandfather in
uniform. It looks like a professional picture - maybe
each soldier had one done. I have to get it from my sister
and send it to you as an attachment. Thanks for the
picture you attached. It's a great picture that I will
share with my sisters and brothers. Is it a picture of
the 74th Co., 8th Battalion or of a certain year? Also,
I could not find my grandfather on the 1901 census of Ireland at first. He was not on the form with his mother and sisters. He was not married. I FINALLY FOUND IT ONE
DAY, BY ACCIDENT, ON THE 1901 CENSUS OF IRELAND UNDER
BARRACKS! There was a census of the barracks. So, your
ggrandfather is probably on the census. I will try to find it again and send it your way.
The Service Records: I think I sent for them from the
National Archives, total of 6 pages. Will check and get back to you on that.
But, I believe they also have them in Linen Hall? or another Library in Belfast. They will know at PRONI.
I sent for the birth certificate from GRONI.
Thanks, Alice (again, great picture)
