Hi thanks for your reply. William was a L/Cpl with RMF 1st Battalion and was killed in action on 25/4/1915. He enlisted at Preston. Parents are Walter Morrison and Mary maiden name Deady . Mary was Irish originating from Cork.He was born Cumwhinton, Carlisle in 1890. Thats all I know about him.He was my granduncle [ too many g's in my earlier post] I have read some very detailed info on internet about the day he and so many RMF died and was very moved by it all. Several war diaries are online. I would like to know if he just joined up for the war or whether he had been with RMF prior to WW1 but I dont know how to find out.
Any help would be much appreciated.
