Thanks for your help!
We have very little background on Lajos Hart/Harth prior to his arrival in Quebec, Canada on July 11, 1925 on the "Antonia". The passenger list shows Lajos Harth, age 29 on his arrival, so he was born about 1896, and lists his birthplace as "Tiszanagyfalu, Hungary". A document in 1928 for a border crossing from Canada to the U.S. lists his birthplace as "Tiszornagy, Hungary".
On the birth certificate of his daughter Maria (born in Balsa Jan. 1920), his name is listed as "Lajos Hart", as it is on several other later documents (including family recollection and notes). However, on the ship's passenger list to Canada and the Naturalization listing in Canada, the family name is listed as "Harth". Lajos' daughter Marie always listed "Hart" as her birth surname.
The story of Lajos serving in WWI, being captured and then released when the war ended and having to find his own way back home in the frigid weather was one of the very few stories he shared with family members about his youth and young adult years.
Again, thanks for any help on this.
