McGRAW James Wm b 1741 VA; died Battle at Waxhaws SC

Looking for any info on James William McGRAW (spouse: Jemima)
b 22 Oct 1741 Fauquier VA
d May 1780 Waxhaws SC

James is supposedly buried in SC. Also told in lieu of cash money payment for military service, he (or more correctly, his surviving family) was granted land "out West". Around 1804 at least 2 of Jame's children took the long trek to Mason County KY. (Would KY be considered "out west"?)

This direct ancestor fascinates me but all I've been able to find is (& I'm not 100% I have the correct James McGraw):

"LDS Ancestry File 1QDW-7SN.
Muster and Pay Rolls of the War of the Revolution 1775-1783; New York Line 3rd Regiment; Return of the sick in the Garrison of Fort Schuyler March 1st5 1778.
Regiment: Capt. Bleeker
Notes: ulcerous leg"

I read somewhere the battle at Waxhaws was short but bloody & the Brits trounced the "Americans".

Any light anyone can shed will be greatly appreciated. If James, in fact, was a casualty of the Revolutionary War I'm surprised no one has joined DAR on his behalf.

Thanks,
Linda
