County Court records in the York Co. Courthouse might have further information on when he was appointed militia Captain, and for how long he had that post. Bear in mind that surviving militia rosters seldom reflect active-duty service, since most militiamen never saw active duty.
Land and tax records in the Courthouse may document when/if he moved away. If you really want the information without going to York Co., you can always hire a researcher.
