This is a photo from our Sherman family album. Can anyone tell me about the uniform this man is wearing, and if it may have been from any war period?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Kim

The earliest the photo could have been taken would be the 1860s (assuming it was somehow reprinted on paper one or more decades later).
It is definitely not a military uniform of the Revolutionary War period.
Try posting your query in Topics / Military / United States / General.
Good luck!

It is not a military uniform but one of a fraternal lodge (probably upon initiation). My first guess is Knights of Columbus, possibly Knights of Pythias or possibly Loyal Orange Lodge. Many others. Does not seem to be masonic.
Thomas.
