I'm looking for information regarding Lewis Dunham, who served in the Revolutionary War from March 14, 1777 to October 1777. I have a letter, written in 1932, by Frederich Gilkyson, New Jersey Adjutant General , stating that Lewis served as a Private in Barnets Company, Second Regiment Dragoons, Continental Army, with the dates of his enlistment 3/1777 to 10/1777.

I'm unable to verify this information and am trying to establish his parentage. He was father to another Lewis Dunham, born 1790, or 1793. This Lewis, served in the War of 1812, married Rachel Ryno and was father to Noah Wm. Dunham, who served in the Civil War. I have lots of information regarding the son and his descendants, but nothing on the Revolutionary War Lewis. Any help regarding his war service, or his parents would be greatly appreciated.
