New Jersey Muster Rolls

I am intersted in finding out about my ancestor's war service.

He was Rev. Nichoas Cox and wa enlisted as Chaplain in the First Regiment,Second Establishment, New Jersey Continental Line on November 29th 1776 and received his Q.M.G. Department certificate on February 2, 1780 for his service during the War. He lived in Sussex County (later became Warren County), New Jersey at the time.

He is listed in Stryker's book once, but I wasn't sure if there were some other records out there that may show him.

His son John Cox who was born in 1765 was a private of the Sussex County, New Jersey militia according to DAR records, though there is no source for this info. Not sure if there would be anything out there regarding who was in the militia. John later obtained the title of Captain, but I'm not sure when that occured.

I don't have access to Ancestry, so not sure if there is anything on there that would help. I have info on what & where the 1st NJ was during the war, but nothing stating specifically if Nicholas was at these events.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks

Jeff
