I understand your situation. I found out my cousin's father had entered the wrong first name of his father's father on his death certificate. His mother's full name was correct and that led me to his father's correct first name. I think my cousin has accepted my info but hasn't said so. He was also told the family came from Nova Scotia but have not found proof of that. Some of the DAR applications are so old and even tho the DAR has been trying to correct a lot of errors made in the past, there is still a long way to go.I see info on internet about some of my ancestors that I have documentation to prove their info is wrong--some have accepted my info--some have argued about it so I dropped it. If they want to have illusions about their ancestor--so be it.
