Peregrine Magness Jr. moved to North Carolina by 21 December 1768 when a land warrant for 200 acres on KNob Creek in Mecklenburg County (present-day Cleveland County) was issued for him. He was a member of the Tyron County Committee of Safety during the Revolution. He and wife mary had ten sons and a daughter. Documents indicate that several of the sons' criminal problems resulted in their father's moving in the 1790's to Warren County, Kentucky where his will is dated 8 May 1800 and names his wife Mary.
