I have a couple of copies from 1999 research at a Family History Library; but my citations are lacking or at best, the titles and authors are not as fully identified on the copies as I would like.
So hope someone can assist. Below is the first one. Hopeing someone can confirm this is from Virgil D. White, _Genealogical abstracts of Revolutionary War Pension Files_ in four volumes, including vol. 4, Index.(Waynesboro, Tenn.: National HIstoricla Publishing Co., 1990-1992), III:2767, for William Preston (Mary), Cont. & NH Line.

The DAR Index has a man with his name and wife you gave:
PRESTON, WILLIAM Ancestor #: A092985
Service: NEW HAMPSHIRE Rank: SERGEANT
Birth: 6 Jul 1754 MASSACHUSETTS
Death: 17 Jan 1842 RUMNEY NEW HAMPSHIRE Service Description: 1) ALSO SOL,CAPTS MCGREGOR & HAWKINS
SpouseNumber Name
1)ELIZABETH CLARK 2)MARY HERBERT
Members were descendants of son Joseph or daughter Hannah.
With the number you have W2667, BLW #5079-160-55 there might be additional information at the National Archives or on Heritage Quest available online at some libraries.I will check with my SAR contact to see if they have him listed.

Thank you. Yes, that is dear William, listing his first wife as Elizabeth Clark, but for which no original record can be found of her surname. She is buried with William. His second wife and widow removed to Elgin Illinois with her dau., Hannah m. Hazen Webster.
I don't know that I have ever seen William associated with the SAR. His granddau. Amanda Webster joined the DAR with her lineage to William, as did a descendant, Mary Wallace, the great-granddau. of William's son Joseph.
Of note, Amanda Webster was old enough at the time William's widow died that one assume she would have known her well.
Any assistance is appreciated.--GeneJ
P. S. I have found the listing of William at the battle of Bunker Hill; but don't know that I have recently been able to find a list of those soldiers who were taken captive during the Siege of Quebec.

My SAR contact sent me this:
I have Wm. Preston, Patriot--B.1755 NH, D. 1842 NH, Wife Mary Herbert, Serv. Sgt. NH, Has Pension--SAR member Bruce Webster Preston ANC #069367, NY#008147 and also Wallace Preston, ANC# 052401, CT#03352. These are both very old members, but the library at SAR will look them up. I have other Wm. Prestons but this is closest.
You can purchase a copy of their SAR applications via http://www.sar.org How much of their service info is in the applications--I don't know.
The DAR had others listed with same name(as does the SAR) which means if you find the name in other info--it could be one of them.
