Noble - John or William in Delaware

I am looking for more information on John or William Noble.

William Noble joined December 1776 under Enoch Anderson. I found the muster rolls and where he deserted April 1, 1777. I have no other information. Anyone have any idea on where I can look to find out the fate of William Noble. This is a common name and I do not have a birthday to determine age of William.

John Noble joined in April 1778 the Delaware group. He was born in 1762 and was in the hospital in June 1778. He stayed in Delaware when the Delaware troops went out of state recovering. October 1780 he went missing in action and I have read that he was captured and taken to Manhattan, New York where he was held as a prisoner until the end of the war. His file ends when he went missing in action and then he has his pension records in his file. Could someone point me in the direction on how to get any prisoner records associated with John while he was a prisoner?

I am looking for parent names for John Noble. I am hoping that maybe William is John's brother and it will lead us back one more generation.

Fishkill Supply Depot, Fishkill, NY

I belong to the Friends of The Fishkill Supply Depot, a not-for-profit group trying to preserve vestiges of the the Fishkill Supply Depot, a major supply depot for Washington's Army from 1776-1783 in Fishkill, NY.

In 2007, it was confirmed by an archeological study that hundreds of soldiers were buried there. They are in unmarked and mostly unknown locations in the area that was the Depot. We hope to correct this.

We are trying to collect the names of any soldiers who died at Fishkill and could possibly be buried there. Close to 2 dozen men have been identified so far. At last Fall's Revolutionary War Weekend, at dusk a moving tribute was led by the 5th NY reading off the names of those found to have died and are buried at the Depot. We would like to have more for the weekend event this year.

If you have discovered in a pension file that your ancestor spent time there on duty, was sick there, died there and was possibly buried there ---- PLEASE CONTACT ME OFF LIST !

We want to put names to the men buried there. We want to recognize those who served our country and were in Fishkill during the war. We would like to find living descendants of those brave men to help honor their sacrifice to our nation.

I have found mentions of men marching through Fishkill on their way to West Point and other strategic places in pension files. I have found men who were on guard duty at the burying ground at the depot.

We are trying to preserve the remaining open space from development. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. We hope this can be a nation wide effort.

http://www.fishkillsupplydepot.org/

Can you help us ???

Thank you,

Judy Wolf

Re: Brown OR Crawford, Revo. Vet

I have no idea how or if it was resolved. If he provided proof when he requested pension under correct name-- it seems possible it was accepted.
The DAR Index has 5 men with name Alexander Brown--one received a pension. Also there are 5 men with name Alexander Crawford and one received a pension. Do you have a wife's name or date of birth/place or date of death/place?

In a book listing all DE vets of the Revolution, I found an Alexander Brown who had fought under that name --- BUT, at Pension time he said his true name was Alexander Brown CRAWFORD. What does anyone know about him/ them, and how the problem was resolved?

Thank you so much for your hints. I have very few ties to Delaware so I welcome info. I hope other folks will start using this message board. So far, it looks like we are the only two. Kathleen (STANFIELD) COOK, rchrdcck@aol.com

LAMBDIN - Del. Militia

While looking for possible DAR supplemental ancestors, I found this reference: "Lived in Murder Kill Hundred. 1799 Del. Militia, 7th Co, 4th Reg. court martialed 3 times. 1800 court martialed." I was reading about Daniel (R.) LAMBDIN and his father John Benton LAMBDIN. Does anyone have a source for the info. about the court martial? I tried the email for the person who had submitted the info. but my message was returned to me. (For further info., go to "HOME" and check entries for Daniel LAMBDIN.)
