Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my message.

Unfortunately, I must not have made my intent clear - I am wondering specifically if anyone else has seen the Hodges file, and whether it is extensive enough - particularly regarding the wife - to merit my going through the FOA process. Getting the files via FOA can be both expensive and time-consuming.

I requested this Wiley Hodges file online. The response saying that the file was still with the VA is not sometihing unfamiliar to me - I've probably ordered more than sixty files over the years and I've had this happen with at least two other files. In both of those cases, the reason the file had not yet been turned over to the Archives was that the records continued into "recent" times (about WWII) because the veterans involved had remarried to very young women who outlived the veterans by many years. Thus, I assume some files were still active when the VA turned over the bulk of the Civil War pension files to the Archives. Some of these more recent files extend to several hundred pages, and paying per page copy charges on such files gets rather expensive.
