Gene Salecker book " Disaster on the Mississippi" by Naval Institute Press 1996 is the book with most complete listing of Sultana survivors and victims.That is the source of the info.

William F. Battles of the 3rd TN Cav,co K is listed as lived. There is also a Isaac Battles in the same regiment &
company that is listed as Died.(I assume they were related).

Both were privates.Out of the 34 Company K members on board only 13 lived.
