Mark, I read your message because it was "gatewayed" to the Sultana mailing list, my question is, how did you find this information? my 2xggrandfather was William Franklin Battles,3rd Tenn.Cav. his NARA records didn't mention anything after the correction from lost on the Sultana to survived, I would love to find more information like this.
