Hi,The builders of the Three Bells were William Denny and Brothers Dumbarton. The first owners were Glasgow fleshers (butchers to the Sassenachs) John Bell 32 shares, William & Findlay Bell held 16 shares apiece. Hence the name Three Bells. The rescuing of some 200 of the passengers from the San Francisco is mentioned in a book Queens of the Western Ocean. It is in our local library but not allowed to be taken out. My father has the plans and Lloyds survey sheets and has built a model of it. If you are interested there is a ship in Sydney Harbour The James Craig which is almost identical in length and breadth and has been restored from a rusting hulk and takes daily trips on the harbour. My father and mother have had a trip on it which they say was fantastic.
