Hello Nancy
Some more info, on Captain Crighton.
He was born 13th May 1851 son of Robert Crighton & Jean McKeich,(or McHerch,) at Port Glasgow which is a small shipbuilding town on the Clyde. He married Jane Thomson on the 14th of October 1851, and by the census of 1861 was at 2 Lendel Place Paisley Road West Glasgow. His family then was Robert, age 6 born Auchterarder, Perthshire, Jane age 8 born at China Wharfe?, John T,age 4,born "at sea," Charles Edward, age 2 born Perthsire, Archibald Thomson, age one born at home in the Parish of Govan.
The census als shows that Jane Thomson (age64,)the Mother-in-law was there, and also one Domestic Servant, Christine Gentel?
I hope this helps you.
Best Regards........Jim Bell
