Hi there is a short poem by Walt Whitman in a book "Queens of the Western Ocean" At the end of the poem is the comment
" I am the man, I suffered, I was there." it does not say whether Whitman was on the Three Bells or the San Francisco but it is interesting. The book also mentions the part of the Three Bells in rescuing some 200 souls off the San Francisco.
