Laura,
Try watching the movie, The Crucible. It is a good start. There is really too much information about Salem and the witch trials to post on this website. One of my ancestors was pressed to death for being a witch. His name was Giles Corey. Some of my other ancestors were instumental in starting the trials. (The Mather family) Try your library, there are many good books about Salem and the trials. Take the time to learn what really happened there, it is a large part of our history. Most, if not all, were not witches. There has been alot of research and there is speculation that a fungus in the rye flour was to blame for the strange behavior of the people killed. The fungus produced symptoms much like a bad acid trip would. You could also try either the history channel website for links, or the discovery channel. Also, if you just type in a search for the trials, I'm sure you will get more information than you know what to do with.
