Hi, Robert- I agree with you 100%. I also have my WC trees set to NOT allow downloads. It isn't because I mind sharing but I'd rather do so through personal private contact and communication with those who share an interest in my tree data and I'd like to know that the people have also done their OWN homework.

It is NOT true that RootsWeb WorldConnect trees are copied or included in any Ancestry tree searches or download capabilities (unless of course you also have trees you created or uploaded to Ancestry's public tree program). Those trees would be subject to the Ancestry system/rules.

I think possibly what the person who told you this is confused between the OLD defunct Ancestry World Trees and the CURRENT Ancestry Public and Private trees. The AWT trees are included in searches of WorldConnect trees but are not included in the current Ancestry tree program searches or downloads. AWT (and RootsWeb WC trees)and Ancestry Public and Private trees are completely separate.
