Thanks alot Nellie and Joan,
I agree 56 duplicate messages is too many for one query! However these 56 boards were not all on the same query. They were on about 8 different queries. So there were about 1 original and 6 duplicates for each. Surely this is not excessive. [grin] I'm sure this is subjective. My personal threshold of concern is not that low, especially since this is not a rule but a matter of etiquette.
I had just been out to the most appropriate board (county where the mass murder took place) and none of my eight posts with different titles, different descendancy charts and different lists of surnames were there. I was flabbergasted. The admin there was a bit authoritative which is ok, but unfortunately not at all helpful which is not friendly or supportive of our hobby. So the theory that at least one copy was left behind at the most appropriate board didn't seem to be followed. I will go out to all the boards you listed to see what I can find.
Nellie, how did you create the list of counties and surnames? That was very helpful and I'm sorry you had to go to all the work to collect the names and type them for me. Although I have been an admin for many years, of low activity boards, I don't know how to do this except maybe go into the archives, but I don't know how to do this except one board at a time and I didn't know all these boards off the top of my head. Oh now I'm confused. Are there archives for boards or just for lists? Is there a way to ask staff this question about how to find all the duplicates? In my limited experience in asking for help from staff in the past is that staff is not very responsive but maybe I was not asking in the right way or with simple enough questions.
Well... I hope to hear from you Nellie. Other than that I guess I have to search all the boards listed to see the damage (deleted messages) and then create new (and different) queries for each board. This will keep me busy for awhile. I hope I kept a copy of my queries somewhere. Creating all those descendancy charts was a huge task.
Peace,
Jim
