I wonder if your Lyman Mowry was related to Barton and Origin Mowry? They were Mormons who came to San Francisco on the Good Ship Brooklyn in 1846 and settled in Washington Township in an area that came to be known as Mowry's Landing. They owned a steamship called the Neptune which made regular trips to & from San Francisco transporting grain grown on farms here. I am not a relative but know some about the two of them from a study I did of a local historical cemetery. Barton is buried there and is listed as having been born in Rhode Island.Just thought the information might be useful to you or someone else.
