This year is very special. We are happy to announce a new find that popped up recently--- just when we thought we knew everything we possible could about our family (HAH?), a wonderful thing happened ------
A very important Bible has surfaced in the Klingensmith Family, actually it came from our early German/ Alsatian famiy and down through Daniel Klingenschmidt (1690) who came in 1738, to his half brother Joseph, Jr (1662) who arived in 1700, but died early. So it came to his son George(1701) who passed it on to Peter(1729) and bro. Phillip(1732), who's children, Anna Margaret and Jacob, "cousins", married each other and passed it on down the line which went from Westmoreland Co., PA to Marion Co., Indiana, and returned via the state of New Jersey, back to it's home in Westmoreland Co. (Please see internet at E-TRIB, Greensburg, PA, Jan 2014, Hanes, "Klingensmith 1545 Luther Testament".) We have invited Mrs. Margaret Hanes, the widow of Maurice Henry Hanes, our "cousin" to be with us at the reunion. For her husband's family she has donated this ancient Bible to the Westmoreland Co. Historical Society and I'm encouraging all of you to come and shake her hand for donating this special gift. You can see "The Klingensmith 1545 Luther Testament" under glass at the Society off Rt. 30 east of Greensburg, PA. See addresses and directions at WCHS; and Bushy Run sites.
