I just happen to have the bio on James A. MASTERSON b. in Ky, which mentions your great grandmother, Elgin. Tho, James A. was only 10 yrs old when he came to Oregon with his parents:
s/o William A. and Elizabeth J. (Violet) Masterson. mar in Ky, removed to Mo. then in 1851 crossed the plains with ox teams on April 5, 1851, arriving at The Dallas on 10 October 1851.
