The GERKING Family Reunion Group will hold its 45th Annual Reunion August 7th and 8th, 2004 at Sunnyside County Park near Sweet Home, Oregon. The reunion is for descendants of John GERKING and related families. John GERKING was born 27 AUG 1764 and married Rachael RICE in Jefferson Co., KY. They had 12 children, all of whom were born in Jefferson Co., KY. Members of the family moved to Indiana and other midwest states before many of them headed to Missouri, then moved on to other western points, particularly the Northwest.

Some variations of the surname include GERKIN, GERKEN, GURKIN, GHERKIN. Allied surnames include COULTER, FARMER, HARDING, KIRK, MAPLE, MARTIN, MYERS, PHILLIPS, POTTORFF, PRIDEMORE, PULLEM, SCOTT, SMITH, TINDALL, and WILLIAMS.
