BOSCHEE FAMILY REUNION 2004
July 16-18, Bismarck, ND
Greetings to all Boschee and related family members!
Following is information about the upcoming 2004 Boschee Family Reunion. All descendants of Jacob and Elisabeth (Gunsch) Boschee and related family members are invited to attend this special family gathering.
The reunion will be held July 16-18, 2004 in Bismarck, North Dakota. Family activities and programs will take place at the Ramkota Hotel, located at 800 South 3rd Street. This gathering will be a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to see relatives you've lost touch with… to see the cousins you haven't seen in years… and to meet the relatives you never knew you had! Be sure to make plans to attend this special family event because an interesting and fun-filled weekend has been planned that you won't want to miss.
This gathering will be special and unique because the reunion will bring together, for the first-time ever, descendants of the families of brothers:
* Johann Boschee (of the Wishek, ND, area)
* Valentine Boschee (Zeeland, ND, area)
* Michael Boschee (Grand Forks and the McClusky area)
* Jacob Boschee (Alberta, Canada area)
* August Boschee (Alberta, Canada area)
Descendants of these brothers' sister, Carolina Boschee Schnaidt Schilling, (originally settling in South Dakota and Idaho) are also included in the family gathering.
If you aren't sure which branch of the Boschee family you fit into, feel free to contact us and we'll be happy to help you sort it out!
During the three-day event we have an exciting program planned that all family members are sure to enjoy! We are arranging to set up displays of family history and memorabilia, and to have guest speakers who will speak about our family's unique heritage including why our German ancestors traveled to and settled in South Russia, then later, immigrated to America beginning in 1884. Reunion attendees will also enjoy a video presentation and learn newly discovered information about where in Germany our ancestors lived prior to emigrating to Russia.
Reunion activities will commence Friday afternoon, July 16th when family members gather at the Ramkota Hotel for a "Wine and Cheese Social,†allowing members of our various families the opportunity to meet and get acquainted. Light refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be provided. Saturday will be a full day of activities and will include presentations by our featured speakers and a video presentation. Plenty of time will be allocated for family members to visit as well. On Saturday evening, the family will host a special banquet dinner at the hotel honoring the eldest living family members from each branch of the family. A family talent show is planned as well for our after-dinner entertainment. On Sunday morning, reunion attendees will again gather at the hotel to share a family breakfast. After breakfast, we plan to arrange tours of several of the old family homesteads and cemeteries in the Wishek and Zeeland areas.
The main expenses for the reunion will include the cost of Saturday’s banquet dinner, Sunday’s breakfast, refreshments for Friday night, use of the hotel facilities, and miscellaneous postage and printing costs. Based on the cost estimates we’ve received thus far, the total cost for each reunion attendee will be approximately $25.00. There will be no charge for children ages six or younger and we hope to be able to offer a reduced price for children from age seven through twelve (perhaps $15) if possible. All hotel food and facility expenses will be finalized in early June; at that time we’ll determine if we are able to offer a discounted price for children. To help reduce expenses for family members traveling from out of the area, we’ve contacted several hotels and motels in Bismarck and have arranged for discounted rates for those who are attending the reunion. (Please contact us for a list of these hotels.)
All family members are encouraged to make a real effort to attend the 2004 family reunion. We would really love to see you and your family!
