Randy- Thanks for the letter. The history I have on the southern stream of the family starts with Samuel, second eldest son of Michael and Anna Reittinger, heading down the Shenandoah to what would become Floyd/Montgomery Counties in southwest Virginia. He had a large family-13 kids. Looking in the records, I see that his son Michael Ridinger ( 1802- ) who married Catherine Akers , has a son Samuel who was born in 1823 and died after 1870, and married a woman named Amanda, whose last name I do not have.. Samuel had five sons- Pat Benton, George W., John, Marion and Samuel . If this matches up with the genealogy you have, then the Samuel who lived in Warren and Coffee counties and went to Iowa was your ancestor's uncle. I'd be interested to fill in the descendants of this side of the clan. Let me know if this helps.
