Hi Deb
''Feel free to join us if you can arrange a trip to the States, you would be the star of the party!''
That would be a very LARGE sized star as I'm super-economy sized myself.
What a lovely idea for a visit to the US !!! Thank you. ... I wish !!
I expect most of your friends/relatives (known & unknown) think of Ireland for their roots. Probably true of me as well - but some 400 +++ years ago.
HOWEVER there is a tiny village on the edge of Wales/England which you can find if you put Buckley into Multimap & then zooooom out.
So we wonder if that is original, or an Irish 'implant' or what. But looks like a possible place for origins.
Also there is Bulkeley in the same area - just to confuse things even more.
You will be able to see that it is only a short hop to the east & you land in the middle of Cheshire. Look for the towns of Winsford & Northwich & roughly half way between them is where my corner of the Buckley clan has been based for all those years.
Just as an added snippet of info ..
Winsford was the world salt capital in abt 1900 with its deep brine pumps & even today is the only true rock salt mine in the UK.
I won't describe the small town with its 1000 (yes really) chimneys belching out smoke. The old pictures tell that tale.
Now lovely & green with dairy farming.
Cheshire cheese is the best in the world for me.
Good luck with your planning & I hope I may get a little kick-back from a far far far distant cousin.
I have other cousins of the same distance in Pittsburgh (some of whom I met a few years ago that surname is Renkin) & probably Florida if I could find them - that surname is Wrench.
Best wishes
Clinton
