Hello Phil,
Claude W. Wells and Willa Mae Susan Tackett were my grandparents. I am the second oldest child of Willard Franklin Wells & Stella Oins Wagoner, their oldest son. Claude and Willa had five children together, 2 boys and 3 girls. They were:
1) Willard Franklin b. 26 Apr 1916 Carter Co. KY. d. 14 Apr 1975 San Deigo CA. M. 21 Oct 1939 to Stella Oins Wagoner 2 Jan 1922 Carter Co.KY, the dau of Albert Sidney Wagoner and Lacy Ellen Davis of Carter Co. KY........They had 15 children; Claude Sidney, Altie Susan, Willard Franklin Jr (d.14 Aug 1943 U/1), Maxine Pearl, Edward Allen, Joyce Ann, Elizabeth Eulajean, Gary Lee, Doris Marriea, Willard Frederick, Stella Margaret, Earl Luther, James Clayton, Lillian Lacy, Faye Lovely.
2) Opal Maxine b. 11 Dec 1917 Carter Co. KY m.John Chester Fisher, d. 29 Apr 1991 Carlisle KY. Opal & Chester had two children Donia Jean, Phillip Allen, adopted 1, Bobby.
3) Alice Louise b. 10 May 1919 Carter Co. KY. m. ?Adams & Chuck Hall, d.?Calif. Had one son, Thomas Hall. Ca.
4) Claude William Jr. Wells b. 12 May 1923, Carter Co, KY. d.14 Sep 1991 Wv. m. Virginia Cook & they had 2 children Margaret & Claude Jr.III. Divorced and m couple more times.
5) Margaret Elizabeth b. 6 Oct 1921 d. 8 Apr 1942 M.Kendrick Sundys, died few days after having their son William "Billy" Sundys who died last year at Olive Hill, KY.

I never knew much about my grandfather . No one ever spoke of him much when we were growing up. All we were told was Willa worked very hard raising her five children alone. It was said that Claude just wouldn't work and was mean to his children. He left Willa and their 5 children and married Della Webb who he had been seeing. He never saw his children after that or contributed to their care. I think I saw my grandfather only once when I was a child and that was from the car. I did visit him with some of my sisters and brothers just before he died. It was on the day of my grandmother Willa's funeral. This is all I know about Claude. I am only sorry I didn't get to know him personally myself.
I also have the siblings of Claude Wells and his ancestors. He comes from the line of Richard Zorobabel Wells family. I also have more information on this also. If you would like to know more don't hesitate to ask. I would appreciate any information you could give also. Susan
