Wow, can't believe I haven't come across this site before...Interesting how 2 completely different generations of Tom Thumb Players-Front Row Center Theatre Company students are all basically saying the same thing....that Tom Thumb was a very magical place to belong to during our formative years. I wrote the Wikipedia article on Tom Thumb about a year ago...it was pulled as their instructions and what I needed to prove (as if) that Tom Thumb really existed just became to much of a hassle...in any case if you would like to read my article, please contact me and i will send it you....Now for my bio:
I became a member of the Tom Thumb Players (the original, mind you) in Chicago, IL in 1967!! And remained a member until I graduated high school in 1972....I was one of those kids that had many talents that Mr. Netzky used to great advantage, and because so, I was "on scholarship" which means I worked my butt off....but that was okay then and even now...my interest in stage lighting peaked and i was happy to take that responsibility over from an older member in 1970...I learned so much and the interest grew...also, as I also played the piano, i was utilized as rehearsal pianist for 2 summer theatre workshops...I recall a Showcase production (where we did scenes from famous plays) in which despite the fact that I was in a leg cast, I played the piano for a fellow performer, then walked on stage, played the scene, walked off the stage, dimmed the lights and returned to the piano! To this day, I am a lighting and sound designer and occasional actor. I miss those heady days and all the kids I grew up with...hey we didn't always get along, but we stuck with it....I often google other kids that I grew up with at Tom Thumb...would love to put together a memory website complete with pictures, video, etc.....Oh for those golden days!
