On August 8-10, 2003 the descendants of Ole Hanson & Kari Linnevold HEGG gathered in Decorah, IA to celebrate 150 years in America. The celebration was attended by approx. 75 descendants from as far away as Seattle, Everett & Squim-WA, Salem & Estacada-OR, Ayer-MA, Hot Springs-AR, Sioux Falls-SD, Bellaire-TX, Morrisison-CO, Cut Bank-MT, Valley City & Jamestown-ND, Harmony-MN, and Columbia-MO. The celebration included a tour at Vesterheim, a tour of both the Hegg & Jacobson farms (Springfield Twp), a visit to Lansing, IA (the Mississippi boat landing where the families first entered IA), a gathering for dinner at a local church and the Sesquicentennial Celebration Worship at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.
The families that were represented were descendants of ...
Larine Olesdatr. (Hegg) & Peder ABRAHAMSON
Hans Andrreas Oleson & Tonnetta (Johanneson) HEGG
Anton Oleson & Gunhild (Nelson) HEGG
Marie Olesdatr. (Hegg) & Even SKOFSTAD
Nicoline Olesdtr. (Hegg) & Abraham JACOBSON
Johan Oleson & Siri (Viste) HEGG
There were four other children of Ole & Kari, but no representatives at the reunion:
Cecilia Olesdatr. (Hegg) & Hans SIVESIND
Gustavaus Oleson & Gertrude Ekren (Anderson) HEGG
Ole Christian Oleson HEGG
Martin Oleson HEGG
I would be interested in corresponding with anyone who descends from these families.
