Can anyone clarify if the Page number has any particular reference?
Example a Birth might be registered at XXXXXX with Volume number 11b and Page number 268.
Then I find the death of the same person shown in Volume 11b, Page 231 (earlier than the birth).

I realise the Volume refers to the District in which the event was registered but does the Page number have any meaning.

If I do a search (without names) but just using the Vol and Page numbers then many entries are listed. For Births and Deaths and covering odd quarters of many years. Where many registers used at the same time ? Possibly each sub-district kept its own register.

Can anyone clarify?
