I am still confused. (Sorry) Perhaps the people in PA/VA were Irish.
My problem is that in the 1820-40 censuses, my Andersons are in an Irish community. I thought that they had come from IR in 1800. However, my brother says that the Anderson who wrote the 1842 will had VA roots, came from Mercer Co., and that he may be living in his wifes Irish community.
I guess my question is, would a person born in Ireland be likely to use the term plantation in an 1842 will?
I have come to the conclusion that my brother is correct and that I must go to Mercer Co for 1800 records.
However, I am still bothered by the plantation term. I want to be sure that it's not an irish term.
I guess this sounds like a silly question, but I have been searching for 15 years for my Anderson with no luck.
