From what I found on the singer Susan Toth, she was born in 1953.

I found a Carlton M Shafer b 24 Nov. 1921. He died 21 September 2002 in Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. He was cremated
My suggestion to you is to try to find an obit and hope it names his daughter. You could start by contacting the Stark County District Library to see if they will do a obit look up
