His first trial was held in Montgomery County, MS. Three subsequent trials were held in Carroll County, MS. Oliver Bibb, whose name is often mentioned in articles about lynchings, was killed because he supposedly gave Tom the gun used in the crime. I know the common name makes things more difficult.
