Would South Carolina Roberson's be mentioned? My husband descends from Edward Roberson (c.1770-c.1835 places unknown)
father of Jesse Roberson, born 1804 SC;died in Warren Co., KY. Jesse married Rebecca (maiden name unknown) about 1822 in TN. Several of their children were born in Jackson Co., TN before they moved on to KY. Their children's names were:
1) Roland Savage Roberson (changed to Robinson during the Civil War) born 29 May 1823 Tuxson, Jackson Co., TN; died
2 Nov. 1906 Shirley, OK; married Margaret G. Rose.
2) Granville Roberson, born 1825 TN
3) Cinderella Roberson, born 1833 TN
4) Nancy Roberson, born 1836 TN; married Robert B. Justice
1852 Warren Co., KY.
5) John Roberson, born 1838 TN
6) Thomas Roberson, born 1840 KY
7) Julia A. Roberson, born 1843 KY
I don't know if other family members' surname spelling was also changed. It was apparent that Roland did not know how to read and write, thus was at the mercy of whomever filled out his army papers. Any connection appreciated!
