I do not know of any Indian connection with my Lokey family. I think one of John Pinkney Lokey's daughters, Beulah, moved to Oklahoma; and my grandfather, James William Lokey, lived in Ardmore, Indian Territory (Oklahoma) with his first wife, Edna Suggs, who died, and then with my grandmother, Emma Murphy. My mother was born there in 1903. So, I don't know if you and I have any connection.
Another of JP's daughters, Fannie, married W. A. Gill, and moved to AZ. She died at Mayer, Yavapai County, AZ in 1942.
Do you by any chance know the origin of the name Lokey? No one seems to know where they were from. My mother always thought that it was German. I don't know where she heard that. All I know is that John Pinkney was from TN. There was a Lokey in the 1790 MD census, but I don't know if there is a connection with my family. And I haven't seen that census film yet.
I will get back to you if I find out anything more. Cheri
