East3021~~~ I have a few updates!
Here is a message I received the other day:
Te reocrds for the veterans home have been filmed. I think by the Morman people. looked up the record they have listed. There are 9 pages. not a lot of information lists this. first page application from Mackinac County aug l895
Charles Rossseau Corporal enlisted Aug 9 l862 Co I 23 Mich. Inf. served under Captain Sheldon he resided in Portage Lake, Houghton Co, Michigan. discharged in Detroit July l865 age 65 born Canada single person to be notified John J. Rousseau has rheumatism in shoulder and hips and deaf in l ear. he first resided in Mich 22 day April l852
examined by docter l890 disabled admitted to hosp Nov 8 l897 disc. 24 Mar l898
age 66 readmitted Jan l899 this page he marked an x to sign his name he had bronchitis. next page listed 8.00 pension since he is unable to work. last page shows the page about his enlistment. Ther e was no page listing his death in the hospital and I know they make one out when someone died there. It looks like this may be the one you want but there was nothing listing his children or wife or anything else. there was no address listed for John J. Rousseau either.
I think John J. Rousseau, may be my great grandfather, John Jonas Rousseau, Charles' son!!!
I sent the information to the NARA but they said they have "NO RECORD" of this person :( Now where do I go?
Thanks,
Delayne
