Hi there Lynda. I am also looking for Jacob Kurysh who was also my grandfather. I'm not sure if it is the same person. I get the feeling from Aunties that there was a secret there.
My grandfather married Mary Zombra in 1922/23 and moved from Winnipeg/Morden, Man to Thunder Bay, then known as Fort William. HOWEVER, I have a feeling that your Jacob was my Jacob and was married before to Paracieve Stasiuk. If so they lost 2 or 3 children and no further mentio is made of them as a couple after 1919. My grandfather died in 1932, when my father was 2. He spoke Ukranian and Polish. He was studying for his Engineering ticket at the time of his sudden death from septusaemia. I have got a copy of the marriage cert of Jacob Kurysh and Parasieve Stasiuk (known as Bessie). I bought this from the Maniboba archives.
