I am Alan Ridgway, and have been researching many years the famous printing Ridgways from Mottram-in-Longdendale, and James' brush with the Authorities which ended up with him being sent to prison for Sedition. It did him no harm so it seems and his publishing business went from strength to strength when he came out. Indeed his son continued the success of the business and was second in status only to Hatchards in Piccadilly in the mid/late 19th century. I am also interested in your relationship to the family and whether you have traced any modern descendants of the family. My own Ridgways descend with certainty from Buckinghamshire from 1675, so far, and I correspond worldwide with people with our surname links.
