Delighted to hear from you Peter.I research Ridg(e)ways all over the U.K., and many worldwide. I found your ancestor's name on the memorial @ Arras recently, and then discovered he was in the local Essex Regiment. I had hoped to do a small article on a number of soldiers in WW1 in our annual free newsletter 'Ridge Way Routes' and any info about Ernest would be greatly appreciated. Will let you have a copy of last year's if you send me your address per e-mail. I have often been intrigued by the Rotherham Stonemasons and how they fit into the various Ridg(e)way families in the U.K. I have a maternal'' Nightingale" who was an important stonemason in London about the same time as yours. Later this week I intend going into our Essex Regiment Museum to try to get some info on the battle he was in at the time of his death. I hope to publish this year's edition in early December. Look forward to hearing from you. Best Wishes, Alan Ridgway
