Hi Anne

I have been trying to find information on the internet regarding this query but nothing seems to come up other than the Sandygate House Hotel at Wath. I think this will have to be a trip to the archives and see if they can enlighten us.

I just do not understand why living in the centre of Rotherham you would go to Wath to have your baby other than like I say because of the war it may have been safer. At first I thought it was because they had family in Wath and researching the name Broadhead showed their was Broadheads in the Wath area, but now this seems not to be the case. I wonder how many other war babies were born there?

I have checked out the 1901 census for houses in the Sandygate area and there is a Sandygate House on the census, as well as other houses listed in the Sandygate area.

There must be some history somewhere available on Sandygate House...........until then we will have to keep on looking. If you wish to email me direct, then please feel free to do so.

Kind regards.
Joy
