Thanks for the street directions. I have now located Chemist Lane (that's a relief). And although Thornhill Primary School might well have been rebuilt (I don't know), it is certainly there in the same spot. I knew the address always as being in Tenter Street, which is immediately to the north of the school, as is Hope Street. Now Walter Street is to the west of the school. So the school could be said (then and now) to be BOTH in Tenter Street and Walter Street. A small point!
