I always thought the "old" Fire Station was classed as being on Rawmarsh Road.
A listing in Whites Directory of Sheffield & Rotherham 1905 reads :
Fire Brigade Station (Edmund White, supt), Rawmarsh Road.

There is a picture in a book called Around Rotherham by Tony Munford (Page 69) that reads :
Ambulance patients travelled in some style in Rotherham in the 1920s.
In 1924 the fire brigade could turn out three motor ambulances and a horse ambulance.
