I read your surname data on Samuel John Smith born in 1794, NC, d. GA and the note that he and Alsa Maddox had 14 children. I am wondering if my grandfather, Hamilton/Hampton/Hamp Smith, b. @1833 in GA and married to a Harriet ? b. GA who lived in Coosa, Childersburg, and Fayetteville, AL may be related to your Smiths. Hampton had a brother named Harrison who lived in Chilton Co., around Maplesville. Hampton married my grandmother, Margaret Luticia Pearson in Talladega, AL in 1873 and had my father, John Calvin, i.e. J. C. Smith, b. 1891 as well as my aunt, Minnie Smith Merritt, b. 1878. Other half sisters were Mary Elizabeth, i.e. Molly, Smith and Ocie/Osie/O.C Smith who later married a John B. Peters. I would like to find out my grandfather's family siblings' names, etc. Both Hampton and Harrison fought with the Confederate 59th Regiment with Hilliard's troops as AL Volunteers.
