Hi everyone,
I'm running into a snag in my family tree. I am new to genealogical research, so please bear with me. I believe Sarah Allerton may be my 10th great grandmother. Sarah was married three times, but it's the first two marriages that are giving me a headache.
Her first marriage, to John Vincent, in the Netherlands seems to have produced a child, also named John. Her second marriage, to Degory Priest, produced daughters Marah (Mary) and Sarah whom Sarah brought to America with her on the Anne in 1623. However, in some records, I keep coming across an "Elizabeth Vincent." Based on research on Ancestry.com, I may be a descendant of her daughter Elizabeth (which gets more confusing, as I learned "Mary" and "Elizabeth" were often interchangeable during the time period). So, I don't know if there was an "elizabeth" that was born to Sarah Allerton and John Vincent that is just really un-documented (nothing supports this in the online research I've done) OR elizabeth and marah (mary) are one in the same OR my time periods are way off and elizabeth is the daughter of John Vincent (the 2nd - son of John and Sarah Allerton) and his wife Hannah ---- anyway, again, I am a newbie, so any helpful direction guidance would be greatly appreciated.
