Here is what I would try:
1. IF your ancestor was a Past Master (had served as Worshipful Master in his lodge), he should be listed in the necrology report of the annual proceedings of the Grand Lodge of Missouri in 1907 or 1908 (depending if his death in 1907 was before or after that year's meeting). IF he was a Past Master you will just look down the listing of deaths for that year and his lodge name and number will be attached (remember, I said IF...).
You will need to contact the Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Missouri and ask if someone could look this up for you. Here is there website:
http://www.momason.org2. If he was not a Past Master, there is a chance that the Missouri Grand Lodge listed all deaths at that time. Frankly, it is very unlikely and I would not put my hopes on this. But it can't hurt to ask...I would just be prepared for "no."
3. If he is not listed ask the Grand Secretary if you could have a list of lodges for Springfield in 1907 and which ones of these are current in operation, with contact info. Membership records are not kept by the Grand Lodge, but only by local lodges and you will have to contact them for further assistance.
Make sure of course to tell your story with as much details (Masonic) as possible. Remember, these are busy folks who don't mind helping if they can find the time...be patient.
Those are my suggestions.
