There are Indexes known as the McKirdy Index for each of the following areas/years in Scotland - Sutherland, Bute, Clackmannan for the years 1855-1875 and Lanark for 1855-1856. I believe Mr.McKirdy is still indexing but these are the only ones that I know are on microfiche currently. They are very helpful, generally giving year, age, spouse or father (if unmarried), place of death etc. - hope this may be of some use. Good luck.
