Merle,
I was very interested in your earlier communication regarding Adonijah Edwards's service with the Vermont line under General Stark. I had a gr gr grandfather, Rodolphus Clark Edwards (1813-1870), who was born in Montpelier, VT and later lived in Worcester and Boston, MA. His death records in Boston give his birthplace and state that his father and mother were a Jonathan & Mary Edwards, both born in Connecticut. My family has not yet found who Jonathan & Mary are here in Connecticut, where I now live. Just recently, I learned that your gr gr grandfather Ralph Edwards's older brother was Rodolphus Edwards also, who migrated as a surveyor to Cleveland, OH when it was first settled! I am of the opinion that your Rodolphus Edwards could have been the namesake of my Rodolphus, and that a Jonathan Edwards may also be lurking among your family kin back there, born in Connecticut during the latter years of the Revolution or soon thereafter, who could have been attracted to live in Vermont by family members, like Adonijah, who had served in that territory during the War and knew of its potential as a future settlement site. Please let me know if you can shed any light on our Connecticut Edwards ancestors.
